2001
to 2005 – Sustainability Indicators Initiative (Fraser Basin Council)
For the past four years, global FRAMEWORKS has worked
with the Fraser Basin Council and their extensive network of regional
advisors in the development, monitoring and reporting of a set of sustainability
indicators for the Basin. The latest monitoring
report, released in November 2004 provides updates and analysis on
a broad range of social, economic and environmental priorities.
2005
– Community Survey on Agriculture and the Victoria Estate Winery
in Central Saanich (Victoria Estate Winery)
In 2005, Clare worked with Kim Walker Community & Environment on
a project to capture the views of the community in Central Saanich district
of Vancouver Island with respect to agriculture, agri-tourism and the
Victoria Estate Winery (VEW). Clare’s role on the project involved
developing the online survey and analyzing the results for a final report
and recommendations to VEW.
2004
– Health Human Resources Strategy (BC Ministry of Health)
In 2004, Clare Mochrie was contracted to help in writing a human resources
strategy report for the BC Ministry of Health. This project involved working
closely with Ministry staff, executive and the Public Affairs Bureau to
compile the necessary data and communicate key issues, achievements and
challenges with respect to training, retention, recruitment and human
resources planning in the health sector.
2004
– Investing in our creative people: a labour force development strategy
(Labour Force Development Strategy for the BC Cultural Sector)
In 2004, global Frameworks collaborated on a project to develop a human
resource strategy for the BC
cultural sector. The project involved a series of workshops with cultural
sector workers around the province, a consultation paper and a final report
with a series of recommendations for the effective recruitment, development,
retention and support of the cultural sector labour force.
2004
to date – International Ideas Competition (Canadian India Village
Association)
In 2004, Clare Mochrie was engaged to assist the Canadian India Village
Association (CIVA) in the development and implementation of an international
ideas competition. CIVA (www.canadaindiavillageaid.com) is an independent
non-profit charitable society that collaborates with agencies and organizations
working in rural India in sustainable and integrated development. The
aim of the project is to identify a truly innovative idea or concept that
will provide a workable, innovative and transformative process for community
development practitioners to adapt and implement in their communities.
2004
- Toward a Skilled Immigrant-Construction Industry Integrated Assessment
and Bridging Program (S.U.C.C.E.S.S. and the BC Construction Association)
In 2004, global Frameworks collaborated on a team
to conduct a series of province-wide focus groups and interviews with
employer, service providers and foreign trained workers on a joint project
of S.U.C.C.E.S.S. and the BC Construction Association. The purpose
of the project was to develop a comprehensive skilled immigrant/construction
industry strategic plan to increase the employment of skilled immigrants
among construction contractors. It involved research with stakeholders
and the facilitation of a strategic planning meeting which will lead to
the development of a strategic planning framework.

FRAMEWORKS has been involved with citiesPLUS, a public/private partnership
initiative that presents how the Greater Vancouver Regional District
can achieve sustainability over the next 100 years. In 2002, global
Frameworks was commissioned to write three background papers
on topics fundamental to achieving regional sustainability: building
and construction, culture and health. These reports provided the
foundation for a series of community consultation meetings and planning
sessions.
Port
of Spain Community Plan
A
process to develop a five-year community plan for Port of Spain, the
capital city of Trinidad and Tobago, was initiated in 2000. Consultations
were held with different neighborhood groups throughout the city to
hear their respective social, economic and environmental issues and
concerns. Clare was engaged in the final stages of the project to discern
key points and recommendations raised by one of the main urban neighborhoods.
These points were then integrated into policy recommendations and planning
priorities for the national government.
Social
Impact Assessment - BP-Amoco Gas Line, Guayaguayare, Trinidad
In
2000, BP-Amoco commissioned a study to assess the impacts of a new gas
line on local communities in southern Trinidad. Clare provided research
and writing services support to the Planning Advisory and Consulting
Services team based in Port of Spain. She also did field work and community
surveying in the affected local villages.
Environmental
Impact Assessment - Manzanilla, Trinidad
In
2001, Clare worked as an associate of Planning Advisory and Consulting
Services to assess the environmental impacts of a large-scale development
planned on land adjacent to the Nariva Swamp. Nariva is one of the
largest freshwater wetlands in the Caribbean, containing the most varied
vegetation of all wetlands in Trinidad and Tobago. The purpose of the
environmental impact assessment was to quantify the environmental risks
involved in building around the Swamp and put forward alternative recommendations.
Economic
Development Strategy, Township of Langley
In
2002, the Township of Langley commissioned a team of consultants to
assist in the preparation of an economic development strategy.
Noha was part of the team led by Hudema
Consulting Group that organised community consultation workshops
and interviews, and drafted a new strategic plan for the Township.
Safety
Systems Review
The
Safety Systems Review, a public-private partnership launched in 1998
by the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing, addressed and clarified
roles and responsibilities related to the building and safety engineering
systems industries in BC. As a member of the Project Management Team,
Clare provided research support and writing of province-wide consultation
and discussion papers on the issues. She also analyzed and made
recommendations on policy changes to the system.
