2004
– Review of Exploratory and Developmental Projects Initiative (BC
Ministry of Community, Aboriginal and Women’s Affairs. Immigrant
Division)
In 2003/2004, The BC Ministry of Community, Aboriginal and Women’s
Services initiated an exploratory
research initiative to support 15 projects throughout BC aimed at
identifying current capacity, interest, and strategic opportunities,
and developing recommendations related to the successful labour market
attachment of foreign-trained workers. In 2004, global Frameworks was
contacted to review and synthesize the results and findings of the projects
supported by this Initiative, identify common themes related to integrating
foreign-trained workers into BC’s labour market and highlight
recommendations for next steps.
2003/04
– CNAC Report Card (BC Nursing Directorate)
In 2003, Clare was contracted to develop a Report Card for the BC Nursing
Directorate on the 51 recommendations of the Canadian Nursing Advisory
Committee released in 2002. The recommendations give priority to improving
the quality of work life for nurses and provide a framework for action
by identifying implementation roles for governments, employers, unions,
professional associations, regulatory bodies, educators and the research
community. The aim of Clare’s work was to assess and document BC’s
progress in the implementation of these priorities for the Directorate.
Sustainability
Indicators Initiative - Fraser Basin Council
The
Fraser Basin Council contracted global FRAMEWORKS to assist in the development
of sustainability indicators for the Fraser Basin region. Global FRAMEWORKS
researched the availability of data sources, compared the different indicator
options, and presented a set of indicators that best reflect aspects of
social, economic and environmental sustainability within the region. The
consultants also participated in meetings held
with working committees, advisory groups, and the FBC Board of Directors
to review and evaluate the updated set of indicators.
Princess
Rooms Transitional Housing Program
Princess
Rooms is a two-year demonstration project of Triage Emergency Services
in Vancouver's Downtown East Side. Since November 2002, global FRAMEWORKS
has been working with Princess Rooms to develop and implement a program
evaluation including tenant surveys, focus groups, database analysis
and report writing.
Drug
and Alcohol Support Recovery Housing - Vancouver Coastal Health Authority
(VCHA)
In
2003, global FRAMEWORKS was commissioned by the VCHA to produce a data
summary report for their Drug and Alcohol Support Recovery Housing
Program. The report looked at the capacity and output of four specific
support recovery housing programs in the VCHA for the purpose of future
planning and strategic development.
2005
to present – Regional Vancouver Urban Observatory
Since June 2005, Clare has been working as Project Manager
of the Regional Vancouver Urban Observatory (RVu). RVu is the first
local urban observatory in a developed country, building on the global
network of local observatories organized by UN-Habitat, the United Nations
Program for Human Settlements. The project is based out of the Urban
Studies Department of Simon Fraser University. Its objective is to engage
the community in a participatory process to develop and monitor a set
of local and relevant indicators for regional sustainability. The initial
work of RVu will be one of the highlights of the World Urban Forum taking
place in Vancouver in June 2006.
